For families

A page for the son or daughter

You are probably reading this from somewhere else, on a lunch break, with a parent on your mind. This is how we work when the garden belongs to your mother or father and you are the one helping.

Your parent decides

Your parent is our client. We talk with them first, they sign the written estimate, and we don't go around them. If they want you on the call, on the text thread or on the bill, they tell us and we add you.

What you get from us

  • A written estimate with measurements, materials and work days, sent to both of you
  • A text with a photo when each job is finished, if your parent agrees
  • One person to call: Anh, who keeps the schedule
  • A bill that comes to you, if your parent asks us to send it there

What we look at in the yard

At the first visit we walk the yard the way your parent does: the back door, the steps, the hose, the spot where they sit. We write down what is hard, such as a step with no rail, a path that tilts or a bed they can't reach, and list each one on the estimate as a suggestion, never as a condition.

What we don't do

We don't give medical or legal advice, and we don't judge how someone is managing at home. We build the garden they ask for.

Before you call

Four questions to ask your parent first

You don't need a plan to call us. If you have these four answers, the first visit goes faster.

  1. 01

Where do you stand or sit when you garden now?

Where they work today tells us the height the beds should be.

  2. 02

What is the one thing in the yard that is hard to do?

It might be the hose, a step, or carrying a bucket. We start there.

  3. 03

Who should get the estimate and the bill?

It can be your parent, you, or both of you.

  4. 04

When is a good time for a visit, and who should be there?

We can set the visit when you can join by phone.

From the first call

From the first call to the last bed

  1. 01

Step 1: Your parent or you call Anh

She asks what is hard in the garden and finds a day when you can join by phone.

  2. 02

Step 2: A visit of about an hour

We measure the spot, take photos and listen. Nothing is decided that day.

  3. 03

    Step 3: The written estimate

It goes to your parent, and to you if they say so, with measurements, materials and work days.

  4. 04

    Step 4: The build days

The crew works while your parent is home or away, as they prefer, and a photo reaches you when it's done.

  5. 05

    Step 5: A walk-through

Before the last payment we walk the garden with your parent and fix whatever isn't right.

Who you'll talk to

One person to call, and she answers

Anh Phan keeps the calendar and the family thread. If you are the son or daughter, she is the person to call, and she will explain anything in the estimate that isn't clear.

Dorothy and Ubah are on the visit and the build days. Anh is on the phone.

Questions from families

What sons and daughters ask

Can I book for my parent without them there?

We need your parent's okay to book work. You can make the first call and join the visit by phone, and your parent signs the estimate.

Can you send updates to me out of state?

Yes, if your parent agrees. We text a photo when each job is finished, and Anh can email you the estimate and the schedule.

What if someone else handles my parent's decisions?

Tell us on the first call. If another person has the legal authority to decide for your parent, we write the estimate to them as well, and you all see the same page.

What if my parent says no to something you suggest?

Then we don't build it. Suggestions on the estimate are only suggestions, and your parent chooses what stays.

Call with your parent on the line

Or send us a text, and Anh will find a time that suits you both.
